Triple Point brewing approached the Illustration and Graphic Design students at Sheffield Hallam Univeristy to create them a design for their new IPA Sun Dog.
My design for SunDog captures the surreal yet familiar essence of a warm summer’s day - the kind we eagerly anticipate all year. In the UK, Summer is fleeting, spoken of like legend during the long winter months and cherished during its brief appearance.
This design feels like a vivid fever dream - one you can’t help but want to be part of - lounging in a meadow of flower-eyed creatures, sipping a cold beer under the sun.
Inspired by Beavertown Brewery’s intricate and distinctive can art, which extends to their coasters and glassware, SunDog embraces a similarly bold and immersive aesthetic.
While Beavertown’s designs often lean towards a punk-inspired, male-oriented appeal, my design aims to capture a universal sense of excitement - something everyone can relate to.
I hope that when people take a break to enjoy their summer days in a beer garden, they’ll pick up this can, lose themselves in its details, and feel that familiar joy of summer all over again.
